EU Regulations

European Union (EU) regulations introduced in 2024 and 2026 have made it prohibitively expensive for our small business to continue shipping books and space clearing products to most European countries.

Switzerland
Switzerland is in Europe but not part of the EU, so for now we can still ship our full range of books and space clearing products to customers there, including altar cloths, colourizers, and all space clearing kits.

Norway
Norway is in Europe but not part of the EU. We can still ship our full range of books and space clearing products there, but only until the end of January 2027.

Germany
We can continue shipping books and a limited range of space clearing products to customers in Germany until the end of January 2027.

Other EU countries
We are very sorry to disappoint our many loyal customers in other EU countries. The new regulations are intended to improve product safety and reduce packaging waste, but the cost of complying with them is beyond the means of many small UK and European businesses, including ours.

GPSR

The General Product Safety Regulation (GPSR) is a European Union regulation that came into effect on 13 December 2024. It aims to ensure the safety of consumer products sold in the EU and Northern Ireland by placing obligations on businesses, including extensive labelling requirements, supply-chain tracking, and product recall procedures.

We cannot afford the huge expense involved in making our beautiful Balinese hand-woven altar cloths and colourizers GPSR-compliant. Doing so would also mean having to treble their retail prices for customers everywhere in the world, which would make them unsaleable.

PPWR

The Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) is an EU regulation that aims to reduce packaging waste and improve the sustainability and recyclability of packaging.

Since 12 August 2026, businesses selling packaged products directly to consumers have been required to register for Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) in each EU country they ship to, appoint an authorised representative where required, report the packaging used, and contribute towards the cost of collecting and recycling it.

This all sounds very reasonable. However, we discovered that complying with these requirements in every EU country would cost vastly more than the income we usually receive from EU product sales.

We can therefore only afford to continue shipping to one EU country now and only until the end of January 2027. That country is Germany.

We can still ship these products to Germany, but not to any other EU country

We can still ship these products to Switzerland and Norway, but not to any EU country
